He is used to be the first. Not only on the track. Legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has arrived to Ostrava on Sunday afternoon for this year’s Ostrava Golden Spike. His name appeared first on the list of accredited athletes. Athletics fans do not have any doubts that he will finish first on the 100m race on Wednesday evening. All remaining tickets were sold out at the moment when organizers announced that the biggest star of current athletics confirmed his start at the 56th Ostrava Golden Spike. Interest of foreign media and number of accredited journalist has increased incredibly. The whole athletic world knows that Bolt’s career is coming to a close end this season.

“The Ostrava Golden Spike has always been one of the first meetings I have planned in my season so I’m glad that I’m coming this year also. It was the first international meeting where I was invited as a junior so it’s good to visit Ostrava now for the last time I’m competing. Czech fans welcome me always very warmly,” Usain Bolt commented his decision to come to Ostrava. After arriving at Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport Bolt looked at sky with his typical smile and he was clearly happy about sunny weather. “I confess that I haven’t searched for the weather forecast yet. But it’s warm here and that’s great. I’m really looking forward to the race,” he said. “I was thinking about something special for fans but I can’t tell you more right now,” Bolt added.

Eight-time Olympic champion and world record holder on 100 and 200 metres presents on 100 metres track on Wednesday 28th of June. His greatest rivals will be Andrew Fisher from Bahrain and Unier Pérez from Cuba. But as fans of the City stadium in Ostrava have already seen, Bolt’s biggest rival on track is usually the timer.
