PROGRAM of OSTRAVA GOLDEN SPIKE 2020
In the events, which are not part of the Diamond League program, Ostrava Golden Spike will offer the points to the world ranking lists on the level of the Diamond League. According to the initial ideas, the meeting in Ostrava will offer the men´s and women´s 200m, men´s and women´s triple jump, as well as men´s 3000m Steeplechase. These events will also distribute necessary points for the WA 2021 World Championships wild cards. The next program will be designed so that the world athletic stars in particular events would be able to arrive and meet the Czech elite.
The first from the foreign stars are, of course, javelin throwers. The Czech elite may look forward to the race again. In the men´s category, there should be Anderson Peters of Grenada, the unexpected world champion from Doha, starting for the first time in his career at the European athletic meeting. In 2020, he had a huge dream to break the 90m bareer and to attack the Olympic gold. The women´s competition will be lightened by the reigning Olympic champion and last year winner Sara Kolak of Croatia. She trains under the leadership of Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway, the double Olympic champion.
