Double world champion Dafne Schippers from the Netherlands did not find a conqueror two years ago at Golden Spike. But it was her favourite 200m run. This time, untraditional 150m sprint is awaiting her, but she will for sure be one of the favourites. Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands broke the world record in 1 hour race last weekend. In Ostrava she will run 5000m and wants to break her personal record.

The distance is strange and you need to find the balance to run it. It is nice to do something else and I will see tomorrow how it goes. To run less is even better for me.

Yesterday, it was not very warm so I was happy to win.
On her training during the lockdown
The training was different – we missed 6 weeks on the track, everything was locked. So we trained in my house, in woods as much as possible. I could not stay and wait. We ran in woods a lot. A bit strange for the athlete and it was as it was.
On the competitions and Olympic Games
I hope to have normal Olympics. I hope, I hope, I hope. We need the crowds!
On the competition in Ostrava
I hope to run as fast as possible. I usually run 150m in the trainings but not the full speed. It is difficult to train over 200m so we do a lot of 150m in training. Times depend, 16.7, 16.8… but I am always better in the competition than in training so I am hoping to run a bit faster.

I was tired after the travel but I was running in the morning and it feels better now. One hour race – I was a bit scared. One hour is crazy, they told me. Maybe because of the mentality. It was a bit challenging. Maybe it could be even further because I did not know what to expect.
It is really not easy – that is why I was so scared. But you have to stay focused and you can do well. I do not know how it happened but it happened in the competition.

New PB is my goal. Looking forward to competing.
On Olympics plans
My plan? At this moment, it is 5000 and 10km, but I am not 100% sure. We will see next season if I am in good shape. With 98% it will be 5 and 10k. I really like 1500m. It is also a mental challenge. 10km is just a slow run and you just run and run…
On her plan tomorrow, before the competition and the plans this season
I will do a little bit easy run in the morning and in the evening the competition. Next events – my main goal is the half marathon World championships in Poland.
